2. Impressed Current Rod

 

Unlike other types of anode rod, impressed current anode rods do not have to be replaced often but would require some maintenance procedures to clean it from dirt and rust. This would attract corrosion to the rod with the use of electricity. Though they are designed to be a sacrificial component to cease the influence of corrosion, it doesn’t mean that they have to be always replaced. They can still be efficient in doing its job in you only maintain them.

 

3. Zinc Anode Rod

 

Most of the zinc type of rods are commonly integrated with aluminium and are not made of pure zinc. Typically, there is more aluminium content in the rod than that of the zinc. The zinc presence is only for aiding in the reduction or removal of the sulphur present within your water heater tank. Sulphur is actually the product of the reaction between aluminium and the anaerobic bacteria in the tank. Zinc are integrated with aluminium to avoid this situation. The zinc component will kill the bacteria to avoid it from reacting with aluminium thus, the stinky smell would be avoided. To continue their efficiency, you should do your job as a homeowner which is to maintain the unit. This is now used for some of the water heater models.

 

4. Aluminium Anode Rod

 

Aluminium rods are the conventional type of anode rod utilised by most homes for many years. Nowadays, it is no longer due to the nuisance it offers. But areas utilising hard water prefer the use of aluminium rods. This is because they last longer when exposed to high mineral content compared to the other variations of anode rods.
